Home

Welcome to the web home of $4 Shoe, the southern music duo consisting of Morgan John on banjo & lead vocals and Tom Collicott on guitar and harmony vocals.  Now occasionally you may find Morgan playing the fiddle, guitar or uke and sometimes Tom will be playing the banjo or uke and singing lead, but that first configuration is what you're most likely going to hear.

Both Tom and Morgan can also be found playing quite often in the Atlas Stringband which is a rockin' 5 piece band which adds Paul Tolo on fiddle, David Parker on mando and Carmen Ficarra on bass.

$4 Shoe can frequently be heard playing at the Sunday Ballard Farmer's market and is available for parties, square dances (we can bring along a caller) and pretty much any other type of event you can dream up.

News and Upcoming Schedule

  • The big news and the reason the boys finally decided to update this website is that the first $4 Dollar Shoe CD was just released and is available for purchase from this site.  They recorded it at Building 11 Studios and Neville Pearsall will be mastering it up in Port Townsend in about a week.  It features a collection of fine southern duo singing and stringband music with some guest appearances by some of their favorite Seattle Old-Time musicians. You'll get a chance to hear the amazing Tony Mates and Dan Tenenbaum playing the fiddle and a rare opportunity to hear Jere Canote playing the harmonica.  Stop by the Listen & Buy page to listen to several of the tracks.
